Hi everyone, since I've been more conscious about my health this past six months, I am going to share what I discover about myself throughout my journey of loving my own body (physically). OK here it is :
- Prioritize active lifestyle.
I cannot stress this enough but moving your body is very important for your body's overall balance. If you live in a housing complex, perfect! You can always walk every morning or evening just to get your body moving. If you don't like walking, you can always subscribe a gym membership and join their free classes. If your body has already adapted to working out, then you can start doing cardio, weight lifting or pilates. - Listen to your body.
I used to overwork my body when I first started going to the gym. From living a sedentary lifestyle to lifting weights for 4-5 days a week. People had been complimenting my discipline and I've never felt this proud of myself. But soon enough my body started to give me signs that it was screaming for help. My hormones were imbalance and I started having random cravings for days that I ended up gaining more fats than muscles. My period cycle became irregular and I knew for sure something was wrong with me. After doing some research, I realized that I had been stressing my body so much within a short period of time. Now, I decide to tone down my exercise routines and stick with 3 days of strength trainings in a week followed by 15 minutes inclined cardio walk. - Sleep and wake up at the same time every single day.
In my case, I try my best to sleep at 11 PM and wake up at 7AM (even on Sunday) . If you are the type of person who always have insomnia like I was, you need to find ways so your body will relax before you sleep. I spray eucalyptus essence on my pillow and take magnesium capsules almost every night and voila, it is one of the best remedy for my body to relax before I sleep. - Prepare your own food.
If you don't have time, you can always prepare your meal ahead of time. For me, I always have whole wheat bread ready on my freezer so I can always pop it in my toaster every morning. Switch your store-bought nut butter to a homemade one, trust me, this will change your eating habits. I almost never order food online cause you never know how much salt and sugar they put. If you don't know the correct composition of your plate, that is okay. First thing to do is to eat home-cooked food 80% of the time, and eat more proteins than carbs.
Alright, these are four tips that I have in mind for you. Next blog will be "How to love your self (mentally)".
See you on the next chapter, readers!
